Topping tech headlines on Thursday, ICANN was hacked and its employee email accounts and personal information compromised.



The organization, which oversees the Web's address system, reported that a spear-phishing attack initiated in late November exposed more than just worker IDs. ICANN discovered those credentials were used to access other systems, including one that provides entry to zone files and private employee details.



In other news, Minecraft developer Mojang announced its popular game will get its own adventure-story treatment. Minecraft: Story Mode will be a narrative-driven series developed by Telltale Games, and feature an original story driven by player choice. The title will not be an add-on, but a standalone product set to premiere in 2015 on consoles, computers, and mobile devices.



Meanwhile, "dozens" more companies have reportedly signed up to support the Apple Pay mobile wallet. That includes SunTrust, Barclaycard, USAA, TD Bank North America, and Commerce Bank, as well as retailers like Staples, Winn-Dixie, and Albertsons. The Amway Center—home of the Orlando Magic basketball team—will also accept Apple Pay at food and beverage stands.
