Vine has just released a minor update to the app that not only beautifies the platform for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but adds some new functionality in terms of sharing videos and consuming them.
The Twitter-owned video sharing app now takes advantage of the share extensions functionality in iOS 8, meaning that users can share directly to Vine from the video itself.
Before, users had to open up Vine and upload a video before they could share. With the update, you’ll be able to record a video, press the little share button, and after choosing Vine as your preferred platform, will automatically load up the video in the Trim and Crop screen of the app.
Vine has also added the ability to follow channels, meaning that users can not only follow each other, but follow entire categories of Vines. Twitter’s six-second looping video app offers a number of different channels, including Comedy, Music, Animals, Art and Sports.
With Channel following, Vine has dedicated editors to hand-select the very best videos from every channel to be added to the feeds of that channel’s followers.
It’s a clever way to give users an immediate stream of good content when they first start out on the app.
