Broadcom on Monday introduced several new 5G Wi-Fi chips and processor platforms for routers, gateways, and set top boxes (STBs) at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Providing 802.11ac Wi-Fi, the new product portfolio is headlined by Broadcom's BCM4366 processor, which the company calls the "the world's fastest 4x4 5G Wi-Fi MU-MIMO chip for home gateways and STBs." Broadcom is targeting retail Wi-Fi access point routers with the new BCM4366 chip, which can be paired with the company's BCM47094 System-on-a-Chip (SoC), a 1.4 GHz, dual-core ARM network processor "enabling unprecedented wireless and video streaming performance."

Also new from Broadcom are the BCM53573 and BCM47189 dual-band 2x2 5G WiFi SoCs for low-priced and mid-level residential routers, wireless repeaters, power line, and MOCA Wi-Fi bridges, the company said.
