CarPlay will support automaker car apps and wireless connectivity

Apple’s Craig Federighi announced brand new features for Apple’s CarPlay as part of the Worldwide Developers Conference keynote.

CarPlay will support apps from car manufacturers themselves that allow you to control certain car features. No cars currently support wireless mode as yet, but CarPlay will work wirelessly in future cars — it requires a USB connection right now.

CarPlay is Apple’s way of making it safe to use your iPhone in the car, featuring Siri voice control designed for driving situations. It works with your car’s controls — knobs, buttons, or touchscreen.
